Description
you are bidding on a VERY NICE original WW2 Imperial Japanese Army 'Type Ro' Aluminum Mess Kit!The Type Ro mess kit was a standard individual field cooking and eating vessel issued to Japanese Army personnel during the Second World War. These kits were designed for portability and durability, allowing soldiers to prepare and consume rations in field conditions. Constructed to nest together compactly, they were carried as part of a soldier's personal equipment and saw extensive use throughout the war.Made of aluminum, this example is 100% COMPLETE and consists of all three original components: the lid, the main body, and the interior insert. It retains approximately 98% of the ORIGINAL factory-applied paint, which is exceptionally uncommon for this type, as most surviving examples show heavy wear and significant paint loss. All components are correctly matched and maker marked. There are hand-inscribed Japanese characters present on both the lid and the body, believed to be a personal name or initials rather than a factory marking. Additional Japanese characters are present on the interior insert but are not clearly legible. The interior surfaces show grease or preservative residue, likely applied by a prior collector to help preserve the original condition. There are NO dents, NO damage, and only VERY MINOR surface scratching. No corrosion, no repairs, and no alterations observed. An EXCELLENT, high-condition example of a WW2 Japanese Type Ro mess kit with outstanding original paint and complete components. PERFECT for any collection or display!
