WW1 British War MedalTo- 2628.PTE.J.MASON.DURH.L.IJoseph Mason was born in Darlington & enlisted at Stockton on Tees whilst living in Bedale, North Yorkshire. He first landed in France 17-4-1915 serving with the 1/5th battalion of the Durham Light Infantry & was later issued with the new six figure TF number 203024. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 29-3-1918 & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Pozieres memorial. He was 29 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Nichol & Jane Mawson of Crakehall, Bedale & the late husband of Helena Maud Mawson of 18 Keswick Street, West Hartlepool.NEF & Complete with MIC details. Along with SDGW & CWGC details
