Description
Beautiful one-looker Wehrmacht camouflage helmet is so called Normandy colors. The helmet started as a double decal army helmet that first got overpainted in rough green paint in ca. 1940 as often observed. Afterwards the helmet received a spray layer of tan colored vehicle paint and was spray painted with red/brown & green stripes across the lid. Complete with liner, having the correct early aluminum band, dated 1937. The early non-reinforced alu band shows the normal weaknesses and cracks, and even lost a D-ring, hence the chin strap was attached around the liner springs. The leather shows normal wear and is complete with draw string and chin strap. Nice the see the helmet was struck with a bullet in the rear, that also damaged a part of the liner. Shell is marked by EF size 62. Lot number remains hard to read because it's hidden under the reissued paint. A beautiful Normandy camouflage helmet with combat damage!
