Third Reich Shooting Cutlass -Eickhorn

One of the last cutlasses to be produced in this style before the introduction of the white gripped, swastica decorated type. Heavy brass construction. Pommel has oak leaf decoration to the top and has the blade tang turned over to prevent stripping down. Stag grip beautifully toned with three brass acorns fixed to the obverse. Twin incised line decoration to the ferrule which matches that on the pommel. Crossguard has highly detailed deer hoof quillions, clamshell has crossed rifles, shooters hat and oak leaf decoration. Triple etched blade in fine condition with darkly etched scenes and background. The Eickhorn 35-41 trademark adorns the reverse ricasso. Black leather scabbard has lost some of its finish and has a horizontal crack making it somewhat delicate. Scabbard fittings are brass, the upper having a stylised oak leaf frog lug.
