German WWII M43 Field Cap for Mountain Troops-This is a very good example. This is made of a rough textured green wool has a double button closure at the front. The buttons have lost the majority of their finish, except what remains in the lowest details of the pebbling. The machine applied, machine embroidered eagle and cockade are absolutely original to the cap. This was made for issue to mountain troops as it has the zinc edelweiss emblem attached to the left side flap. The flower is gorgeous, it retains both the silver finish, and the yellow/gold stamen in the center. This is excellent. The off green wool lining has very light contract information. It reads Alfred Valet Matzenfabrik, Stuttgart – Bad Canstall.It is nicely dated 1942. It is also stamped as a size 56.The inside green rayon lining show wear and slight pulls to the fabric but this appears to be from normal wear and use, please see photos. Overall, this is a very good offering.
