1914 American Womens War Hospital Paignton named silver badge

A very rare original First World War 1914 period 'American Womens War Hospital' for wounded soldiers based at Oldway in Paignton Devon' in the form of a fine quality slim medal bearing blue enamel title circlet, the centre displaying highly enamelled crossed 'United States Stars and Stripes' and 'British Union Flag' with an 'American Red Cross' in-between; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914 and maker's details 'J.F' (James Fenton) and inscribed to 'SISTER RIBA TAYLOR'. Very good condition, complete with original red silk ribbon and hallmarked silver suspension bar.Height approx 64mm.
