Japanese Katana in Civilian Mounts and Leather Combat Cover

The katana sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 35 inches, with a blade length of approximately 24 inches. The blade exhibits expected signs of age, with scratches and a few dark mossy spots, but it is generally clean, while also displaying a visible temper line. The tang has a single mounting hole and it is unsigned. The grip is covered in light sharkskin which shows a missing piece on one side, and it is tightly wrapped in the traditional manner with dark brown fabric. Beneath the fabric on each side of the grip are figural menuki. The tsuba guard is solid iron. The lacquered wood scabbard is contained within a brown leather combat cover, which exhibits scuffs, abrasions and has shrunk a bit, but which is complete and intact. Overall the sword is in very good condition. We photographed the sword with the retaining peg removed and we will replace it when we ship the sword.
