Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Wehrmacht Field-Made Splinter Camouflage Parka!During World War II, it was common practice for German soldiers to have garments tailored in the field using Zeltbahn camouflage shelter quarters. Especially on the Eastern Front, locally produced and custom-made parkas provided wind protection and moderate insulation beyond standard issue tunics. These field-tailored garments vary widely in construction and materials and often incorporate mixed camouflage sections due to their Zeltbahn origin. Period examples commonly feature tailored machine stitching, storm flaps, custom closures, and satin or quilted linings obtained through wartime supply channels. Authentic field-made parkas are highly collectible due to their individuality and undeniable combat-use characteristic.Made from mixed-shade splinter camouflage sections, this Parker is in EXCELLENT combat-worn condition! Clearly manufactured from various pieces of fabric, resulting in tonal variation throughout. Construction is a combination of machine and hand stitching, professionally tailored rather than crudely field sewn. The parka closes right-over-left with six black wartime bakelite buttons running vertically down the front. A secondary storm flap from the right side buttons over the primary closure, fully covering the central buttons. Two hip pockets with buttoned flaps are present. Each sleeve features a large and small black button positioned between shoulder and elbow of unknown function, along with cuff buttons and securing tabs. Hood is permanently attached, matching splinter camouflage, with intact drawstring. Additional drawstrings are present at the waist and lower hem; all cords are intact and original! Interior lining is original gray satin material commonly observed in period German garments and appears to have internal wool interlining between shell and liner, giving the garment substantial weight. No maker marks, size stamps, or ink stamps are present, consistent with custom field tailoring. Condition shows clear combat wear including staining, small holes, and stitched field repairs. No rot, moth damage, weak areas, or odors presen! Interior retains original lining with heavy wear and staining, particularly at the back of the neck and shoulders. Estimated size approximately 36 inch chest (SMALL). Overall a VERY NICE mid-war combat-worn exampleβ¦PERFECT for any collection or display!
