Description
Original Finnish propaganda leaflet from the Second World War, aimed at soldiers, commanders and political officers of the Red Army. This pamphlet was distributed over the Eastern Front, particularly in the Finnish sector during the Continuation War, and formed part of the psychological warfare campaign against the Soviet Union. The front shows four photographs featuring released Soviet prisoners of war: a soldier receiving a certificate of release, a ceremonial discharge from a POW camp, former prisoners searching for relatives, and an emotional reunion with his wife. These images were intended to create the impression that surrender was safe and that prisoners of war would be treated correctly and humanely. The reverse contains an extensive Russian text listing German and allied (Finnish) military successes, emphasizing heavy Red Army losses and urging soldiers to surrender in order to save their lives. At the bottom is a stamp of the Finnish Army High Command.A historical collectible from the psychological warfare of the Eastern Front.Article number: 18398
