Model 1871 to Modified to 88-98/05 Configuration Bayonet

German M71 bayonet modified to 88-98/05 configuration. Spine is marked 'crown W / 73'. Reshaped brass handle. Housed in its altered leather scabbard with brass mounts and leather frog. The blade of the bayonet shows spots as well as an overall gray cast. The spine of the blade bears the imperial cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm together with the date of '73'. The brass grip as well as the guard exhibit an uncleaned patina. The guard was modified to remove a quillon and alteration of the muzzle ring to a 'rabbit ears' configuration. The leather scabbard and the frog exhibit age and use but they are complete and intact.
