Unit Marked Imperial German Model 1871 Bayonet by Alexander Coppel

The blade of the bayonet is generally clean, showing typical spots. The ricasso is maker marked by the firm of Alexander Coppel of Solingen. The spine of the blade bears the imperial cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm together with the date of '74'. The guard of the bayonet is unit marked '102. R. 9. 97.'. The unit designation had a line place through it to reflect reassignment of the weapon. The brass grip as well as the guard exhibit an uncleaned patina and spots. Overall very good condition.
