Description

Italian Aircraft Insignia under Plexiglass Captured in Anzio Sicily North Africa-This was brought home by a Lt. Harold White of the 82ndairborne division while in North Africa. This Kingdom of Italy coat of arms was in use from 1929 until 1943. It features the white cross of the house of Savoy on a red shield. It is topped with a royal crown, and flanked by two fascist fasces. This has a bright red matte surrounding the image. This insignia would have been applied to the tail of an Fiat CR.42 Falco Italian plane. The piece of plexiglass that holds the insignia measures 10 inches (25.4 cm) square. This plexiglass is slightly polygon shaped. A great veteran souvenir.
