General Hospital Nottingham 1946 Hm silver nurses badge

A scarce original circa 1946 period 'General Hospital Nottingham nurses pin badge' in the form of a fine quality large silver shield inlaid with red translucent enamelling, depicting the 'Arms of Nottingham' a green enamel ragged Cross mounted with three highly defined 'Ducal Coronets' and a blue scroll 'G.H.N' within green laurel sprays; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1946, maker's details 'V&S' (Vaughton & Sons Birmingham) and official issue number '655'. Good condition, complete with good replacement hook and pin, minor service wear to the enamel.Height approx 43mm.
