Description

You are bidding on an original WW2 Imperial Japanese Army Type 88 Field / Mountain Gun High Explosive Shell Fuse! This was used in conjunction with the 70mm Type 3 H.E.A.T. (Howitzer); 57mm H.E. for the Type 90/97 Tank Gun; 47mm H.E. for the Type 1 Anti-Tank ; or Type 1/97 Tank Cannons! The Type 88 (八八式) artillery system was used extensively by the Imperial Japanese Army for field and mountain gun applications. These fuzes were mounted on high explosive artillery projectiles and were designed for use with standard field and mountain gun ammunition rather than mortar systems. The lacquered brass construction and kanji markings are characteristic of Japanese Army ordnance production of the WWII era.Made of brass and alumium, this Japanese Army Type 89 Field Mountain Gun Fuse is in VERY NICE condition for its age!Completely inert, it retains its original brass finish and natural patina with no dents, cracks, or corrosion! The fuse retains its original finish with clear lacquer over brass…however it is now flaking in areas consistent with age. The brass body remains solid with surface oxidation but no dents or cracks. Threads are intact and clean. The lower body section is not fully seated and does not screw down further, though threads are undamaged. Original retaining pin is present. Markings include八八式('Type 88') and榴弾信管('High Explosive Shell Fuse'). Untouched and uncleaned condition. Overall VERY GOOD example of a Japanese Army Type 88 Field / Mountain Gun artillery fuse...PERFECT for any collection or display!
