Unit Marked, Dated 1877 Imperial German Model 1871 Bayonet by Sims

The blade of the bayonet is generally clean, showing typical spots and wear. The ricasso is maker marked by the firm of Gebruder Sims. The spine of the blade bears the imperial cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm together with the date of '77'. The guard of the bayonet is unit marked '172 R. 9. 232:'. The brass grip as well as the guard exhibit an uncleaned patina. The leather scabbard shows crazing and some bubbling of the surfaces, but the scabbard is complete and intact.
