Description
Dutch photo album dedicated to the Liberation of Utrecht in 1945, containing a total of 25 original period photographs in various sizes (smallest approx. 9 Γ 6 cm). The album forms an impressive and cohesive visual record of the final months of the war and the festive liberation days in the city. The photographs present a wide and varied reportage: war damage and artillery bombardments, destroyed buildings and damaged towers, street scenes of daily life immediately after the occupation, and large crowds celebrating the liberation. The album also includes several strong images of military parades, marching bands, processions and large public gatherings.A particular highlight is that Prince Bernhard appears clearly in several photographs, including during official receptions, speeches and festivities in Utrecht. There are also images of the gathering crowds, the liberation speech and the arrival of Allied troops and military units in the city. The album is presented in a classic cord-bound photo book with black album pages. The captions were added later, while the photographs themselves are authentic period prints from 1945.An interesting historical document for collectors of Dutch WWII memorabilia, photography and the regional history of Utrecht.Article number: 18431
