German WWII 1st Model Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger Gravity Knife by SMF- The 1st Model gravity knife was a fixed-frame assembly, before they introduced the 2ndmodel in 1943. The 2ndmodel was known as a 'takedown' knife and allowed the user to repair the gravity fixture inside. This is the earlier first model. It has gorgeous silver fittings, that show only the slightest wear. The wooden grip plates are also near excellent. The button that releases the cap to the inner spring works perfectly and is marked on the underside with 993/1. The blade slides out with a little shaking. The blade itself is in very good condition and is very nicely marked with the SMF logo. The spike is in place, with the number 5 waffenamt for Luftwaffe issue.
