Original era manufacture. Later pattern 1886 hat with a shorter crown. Dark blue top with a yellow wool band and piping, Black patent leather visor with a bound edge, black painted canvas sweatband with white silk ribbon, pink silk lining material with a six pointed star decoration. Typical scattered mothing to the cap band. White cotton removable cover which is securely stitched together at the back. The hat is sound, not crushed or broken. You seen photos of Japanese troops during the siege of Port Arthur wearing this pattern hat.
