Description
This original embroidered shoulder title belongs to the Indisch Instructie Bataljon (Indies Instruction Battalion), a unit of the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) that was active during the Dutch–Indonesian conflict and the so-called 'police actions' in the Dutch East Indies (1945–1949).The badge is made on a green woven backing with black embroidered lettering and clearly reads 'INDISCH INSTR. BATALJON.'The Indisch Instructie Bataljon was responsible for training and instructing military personnel in the turbulent years following the Second World War, when the Netherlands attempted to re-establish colonial authority in the archipelago. Members of this unit wore this type of shoulder title on their uniform to identify their battalion and role within the military organization. An interesting piece for collectors of KNIL insignia, Dutch East Indies memorabilia, and military badges from the 1945–1949 period.Article number: 18467
