It is for Anton Heppel, born 13.6.1917 Obernzell, a municipality in the district of Passau in Bavaria, Germany. He was a member of the 12thCompany, 100thRegiment 'Bad Reichenhall'. This was an elite mountain trooper regiment. Formed originally from remnants of the first war's Bavarian Alpenkorps. In April 1938, they joined forces with the 98thand 99thregiments to form the 1stGebirgsjäger Division, mobilizing for the invasion of Poland on August 26, 1939. A copy of the unit history will be included. In addition to the Wehrstammbuch, there are a total of 19 documents, 3 handwritten letters including one from the Carlton-Hotel in Davos (Switzerland) dated 6.10.43 and addressed to 'Toni'. Dates range from 1937 all the way up to one from 1968. The 1968 dated document is from the Welfare Office in Munich in relation to a medical claim that he filed. The Wehrstammbuch is FILLED with information. It is worn but legible. His awards included the Wound Badge in both black and silver, the Infantry Assault Badge in silver and the Russian Front medal. The grouping even includes a photo of Heppel. An important grouping!
