Original period manufacture. Patriotic medallion of pewter bearing George Washington's profile on one side and the owners information on the other, 4th Mass, Cavalry, Co D, Charles W. Carter, No.Andover Ms. Doing a bit of research on the soldier we find that he enlisted in January of 1864 and was captured during the battle of Gainesville Florida in August of 1864. He survived and was discharged from the army in July of 1865. Shows wear and use.
