This original Dutch East Indies 'Voortrekkers' metal badge dates from the period 1945–1946 during the turbulent years following the Second World War in the Dutch East Indies.The badge features a stylized monogram crowned with the Dutch royal crown.At the bottom the years 1945 and 1946 are displayed referring to the early post-war period in the Dutch East Indies.Such badges were worn as identification insignia by individuals involved in the early Dutch presence and organization in the region after the war.The piece is made of metal with a dark enameled background and gilt colored details.On the reverse a fastening construction is present allowing the badge to be worn on a uniform or clothing.The reverse is also marked 'Cordesius & Zonen Batavia', a well known manufacturer of insignia in the Dutch East Indies.The badge shows signs of wear and patina consistent with its age and historical use.Article number: 18504
