WW2 army (Heer) Medical Officer 'Sanitäter' ID & Certificate Oberarzt Dr. Walter Becker 1945

Rare and historically interesting late-war document group relating to Oberarzt Dr. Walter Becker, a medical officer serving in the German Wehrmacht medical service (Sanitätsdienst) during the final months of the Second World War. The group consists of his official Deutsche Wehrmacht medical service identification card together with a typed hospital certificate issued shortly before the end of the war.The Wehrmacht service identification card bears the Red Cross emblem and confirms Dr. Becker's status as a medical officer protected under the Geneva Convention. It lists him as Oberarzt Dr. Walter Becker, born 18 July 1914 in Karlstein, serving as a Sanitäts-Offizier within the Wehrmacht medical service. The card is numbered 34532 and issued in March 1945, carrying official stamps and signatures. The reverse contains printed extracts from the Geneva Convention outlining the rights and protections afforded to medical personnel during wartime.Accompanying the card is an official typed certificate from Deutsches Lazarett Konitzky-Stift in Bad Nauheim, dated 4 June 1945, only weeks after Germany's surrender. The document states that Dr. Becker had been transferred from the Wiesbaden military hospital where he had served since February 1945, and that he worked in the internal department of the Bad Nauheim hospital between 26 March and 4 June 1945, at times overseeing a ward of around one hundred beds and conducting medical examinations for ambulance patients.
