Description

The obverse features the inscription 'Vlaamse Oostfront-Vrijwilligers' (Flemish Eastern Front Volunteers) encircling the central emblem of the Birch Cross, incorporating runic symbolism and a small Flemish coat of arms beneath. The design reflects the iconography commonly associated with Flemish volunteer units on the Eastern Front. The reverse lists six major Eastern Front battlefields where Flemish volunteers were engaged during the war:Wolchow – Leningrad – Sjitomir (Zhytomyr) – Jampol – Narwa – OderThese locations commemorate some of the most significant campaigns in which Flemish formations fought between 1941 and 1945. This medal was produced as a post-war veteran commemorative piece, intended as a table medal rather than a wearable decoration.Details:Material: Brass / bronzeDiameter: 36 mmIssue: Sint-Maartensfonds, circa 1960Condition: Good collectible condition with typical light surface marks from ageA scarce and historically interesting piece of post-war Flemish veteran memorabilia relating to Eastern Front service.
