Waffen-SS aluminum belt buckle by SS 36/40 RZM 'Overhoff & Cie'with SS marked belt

Very attractive and scarce Waffen-SS aluminum belt buckle complete with its original leather belt, both period marked and remaining together as a set. The buckle is the classic SS pattern bearing the motto 'Meine Ehre heißt Treue' and is manufactured in aluminum. The reverse is clearly marked SS 36/40 RZM, indicating production by Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid, one of the well-known manufacturers of SS belt buckles during the war.The buckle shows light and honest service wear, with a pleasing patina and crisp details still visible throughout the eagle and wreath design. The aluminum construction is typical for early to mid-war production and remains in very nice condition. The buckle is mounted on its original leather belt, which is also SS RZM marked, although the exact number has become difficult to read over time due to wear.The belt retains its original aluminum catch, maker marked 'OLC', also attributed to Overhoff & Cie., making this a very nice matching set of buckle and belt hardware. The belt itself was period shortened, something frequently encountered on wartime belts as soldiers often lost weight during prolonged front service. As a result, additional holes were punched directly into the belt and the original leather sizing tongue is no longer present. The current belt length measures approximately 75 cm.This untouched set was recently discovered during an attic clean-out in Denmark, coming directly from a long-time local contact who regularly uncovers such wartime items. The belt and buckle clearly remained together over the decades and show no signs of post-war alterations or restoration. A very nice original Waffen-SS belt and buckle set with honest wear and strong historical character.
