German Vintage Cigarette Book 'Der Welkrieg' (The World War)-This cigarette was published in the 1930's to commemorate WW1. It contains hundreds of color cards illustrating significant battles, military equipment and events from a German perspective. These albums were popular promotional items that were issued by tobacco companies. These small collector cards were included in packs of cigarettes. This book has 71 pages. The book itself is broken up into chapters, with major events of the year, and the accompanying illustrations (cards). There are also maps showing where the action is taking place. There is a total of 270 colored photo cards. Some of these cards are illustrations, but the majority of them look to be colorized. All of the cards are present. These images are very cool, many of them show battles, destroyed equipment and great example of the equipment the German would use, including horses and wagons, the infamous trenches, etc. This book has a gorgeous bright red soft cover with a large logo on the front 'der Welkrieg' in yellow and red font. This title is imposed over a map of Europe. The book is very clean, with a tight binding. This book is a long format book, measuring 10 inches (25.4 cm) wide, and 14 inches (35.56cm) long. It is truly excellent and a fun book to look through, especially if you have an interest in the First World War.
