On landing in France in December1914, Manraj was not then a VCO, and was first promoted from the ranks on 13 March 1915. Having survived the 'Killing Fields' of France & Flanders, it appears that Jemadar Manraj Gurung subsequently served at Gallipoli, and was discharged sometime after December 1915.
