Schleehauf formerly Landauer Aryanized Jewish Department Store Tin

Sold
$45.00

Description

Original Schleehof Früher Landauer (Schleehauf formerly Landauer) tin. Landauer was a Jewish department store that was sold to a German employee, Adolf Schleehauf in 1936. Schleehauf paid a fair price and, because of that, was also subject to boycotts as a 'Judenknecht' (Jewish lackey). The Sütterlin writing on the tin is to appear more German.I am unsure what this small tin was originally for. I assume some sort of food stuff, like tea or bullion cubes. The tin itself only has the store name. It is in decent condition with wear. The German informational picture is from a PDF from the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg.
