Description

Very rare set of officers bronze Brodrick cap and collar badges for the Isle of Wight Rifles -1902-1906 still attached to a London makers sample card. Originally the property of Colonel Hobart the first commanding officer of the Regiment. With the inauguration of the Territorial Force in 1908 he was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel commanding Princess Beatrice's Isle of Wight Rifles, {8th. Territorial Battalion} Hampshire Regiment. The cap badge depicts Carisbrooke Castle within a wreath of laurel with blade fittings, a similar design for the collars with the additional scroll, ' Princess Beatrice's I of W' also on the card is a small, silvered bugle horn with screw bolt fitting.
