Description
The group is comprised of 34 shooting medals and marksmanship badges which were awarded to Thomas Lohr, with the medals reflecting a period of more than twenty years, from the pre-World War I era into the 1930's. Lohr was a member of the Virginia National Guard, and he was commissioned as an officer in World War I. The group includes a portrait photograph of Lohr as an enlisted man in World War I, wearing several marksmanship awards. The group also includes a 1912 document appointing Lohr as a Corporal in the First Infantry Regiment of the Virginia Volunteers as well as Lohr's 1918 dated commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry. Many of the medals are engraved with Lohr's name as the recipient. The group also includes a pair of screw back distinctive unit insignia for the 116th Infantry Regiment, a component of the 29th Division, and both bear Lohr's name on the reverse. Overall an impressive group in very condition, with the documents showing age toning.
