Description

Hard to find 'first pattern' silver wound badge. These were awarded to members of the Condor Legion and/or first wounded of the Blitzkrieg in 1939/1940, hence the nickname of these badges 'Condor Wound Badge'. These badges had the WW1 design with a swastika added on the steel helmet, the first examples were actually real overstock from WW1 with a swastika added, later they made them like this. This example is made out of zinc with silver finish. The pin set-up is a classic design used by GWL (Gebruder Wegerhoff & Lüdenscheid) Interesting example – very hard to encounter nowadays.
