Description

The group includes General Pearson's khaki tropical weight wool tunic, tagged as a size 46 Long, together with General Pearson's green visor cap, which contains General Pearson's card as Adjutant General of the Wyoming National Guard. Both the tunic and the visor cap exhibit wear and use, but they are without holes, damage or repairs. The set makes a very impressive appearance. General Pearson was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, on 15 August 1903. He enlisted in the 1st Wyoming Cavalry Regiment at the age of sixteen. He received an officer's commission in 1928, and when the United States entered World War II, Pearson deployed to the Pacific as a Major. He served as the combat commander of the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division in the Philippines, where he was decorated for valor with the Silver Star as well as the Bronze Star with a 'V' device. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, then Colonel Pearson served in the occupation of Japan and he later served as the Commander of the 508th Regimental Combat Team in Berlin. He retired from active duty in 1958 and he returned to Wyoming. In 1959 Pearson joined the staff of the Wyoming National Guard. Two years later he was promoted to Brigadier General. In 1962, Pearson rose to the rank of Major General and he was appointed to the position of Adjutant General by the Governor.
