French Second Empire M1860 Infantry Shako Plate, 50th Regiment

Original period manufacture. Stamped brass shako plate with a gilt finish and a cut-out regiment number below the eagle's claws. The attaching loop on the reverse of the eagle has been removed. Very attractive shako plate of a pattern worn during the expedition to Mexico in 1863.
