Allgemeine-SS Transitional M17 Helmet, Double Decal

This example is a size 66 M16/17 German shell, re-painted in flat black and adorned with a set of CA Pocher runic and party shields. The paint is 90%-plus intact, the decals are full shield form but show fading from most likely repeated polishing (every detail of the pocher runes is evident, including the outline on the edges of the runes). The estimate helmet has not been stripped, because in the dullness of the flat finish is evidence of evaporated wax polish– likely from the period. As these were parade helmets, they were shined frequently, leading to a certain amount of insignia fading. A great helmet, out of a years old collection in the northeast US. COA accompanies.
