Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Zusatztankwähler (Fuel Tank Selector Valve), 8-4574 B (HM) used on the Messerschmitt Me109 F-K Fighter Aircraft! The Zusatztankwähler (auxiliary fuel tank selector valve) was an important component within the fuel system of German Luftwaffe aircraft, most notably the Messerschmitt Me109. Mounted at the firewall, it allowed the pilot to control and switch between internal fuel tanks and external drop tanks during flight. This capability was critical for extending operational range and managing fuel consumption in combat and ferry operations. These valves were precision-engineered components, designed to ensure reliable fuel flow and quick selection under demanding flight conditions.Made of aluminum and steel, this Fuel Tank Selector Valve (Zusatztankwähler) is in NICE used condition! The unit shows clear signs of service use with surface wear, light oxidation, and areas of grease or staining present. It is COMPLETE as a unit with all ports intact and undamaged, however the original data plates are missing. The selector mechanism is present but is currently STIFF and does not operate freely, and will require internal cleaning or restoration to function properly. There are NO cracks, dents, or damage that I can see. I have shown its location in the last image. Overall, a NICE and ORIGINAL Luftwaffe fuel system component from the Me109, PERFECT for any collection, display, or restoration project!
