Description
You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe FuBl 1 Funk-Blindlandesystem Antennenmast (Antenna Mast) as used in conjunction with the FUbl 1 Blind Flying Navigation System! This was used on such aircraft as the Messerschmitt Me110, Junker Ju88, and Heinkel He111!The FuBl 1 (Funk-Blindlandesystem) was an early German blind-landing radio navigation system developed to assist Luftwaffe aircraft in low visibility conditions. Using the Lorenz landing beam system, it consisted of the EBL 1 and EBL 2 receivers with the AFN 2 mounted in the cockpit. The EBL 1 operated between 30 and 33 MHz and received the azimuth signals from a transmitter at the far end of the runway, The EBL 2 operated at 38 MHz and received the two marker beacons as the aircraft approached the threshold to land. The AFN 2 provided the pilot with a left/right display and a signal strength. The pilot could also hear the azimuth signal and the marker beacons in his headset. When the aircraft passed over the beacons a light was also illuminated in the cockpit. These antenna masts were mounted externally along the underside of the fuselage, often in multiple units arranged in sequence, allowing the aircraft to receive guidance signals for approach and landing. Due to their exposed positioning, these components were highly susceptible to damage from debris and prop wash, making surviving original examples increasingly scarce today.Made of bakelite, aluminum, and steel, this antenna mast is in EXCELLENT used condition! It features the original bakelite antenna housing mounted to an aluminum base, along with a straight steel rod (rod is a period-style reproduction). The bakelite section is completely intact with NO cracks, bends, or repairsβ¦and features manufacturer stamps and markings on the side. The aluminum mounting base remains solid and undamaged, showing only light discoloration and minor surface oxidation consistent with age. The base retains visible part number markings, indicating,Fl. 27132. The steel rod is straight and clean, though noted as a replacement. I have shown how these individual units were mounted on the Me110 in the last images Overall, a VERY NICE and desirable original German WWII FuBl 1 antenna mast, PERFECT for any collection or display!
