Description
Later issue Luftwaffe M38 dual color camouflaged Fallschirmjäger helmet, shell stamped at the inner rear lot number 4040, shell should be ckl68 but this embossing is covered by the zinc liner band, the leather liner is stamped with RBNr. 0/0251/011, size 58, the former owner's initials are penned to the leather, the liner shows evidence of wear but is undamaged, the late style chin harness is complete and flexible, the longer strap exhibits some abrading and slight shrinkage, externally the helmet has slotted and vented aluminum bolts at the rear and slotted bolts at either side, externally the factory finish was over sprayed in a base tan colored camouflage color over which a subsequent treatment of dark green was sprayed, this resulted in a mottled tan/green appearance with each color being about evenly distributed, the bolts still have traces of their camouflage paint, there are scattered scratches and areas of missing paint revealing the browned base steel, this helmet never had a decal applied, great looking example of a late war FJ camo helmet, USD $17,500
