Auxiliary Unit Pattern Knife.

Available
£165.00

Description

Although at first glance this is a purely commercial sheath knife, this pattern of knife has strong connections with the Auxiliary Units. Recorded examples of actual use with the Auxiliaries concentrate in the South West, Dorset, Cornwall etc. This particular example unfortunately does not have any direct attribution to a specific unit. The Auxiliary units were formed in 1940 before the general issue of the standard Fairbairn Sykes pattern fighting knives so the provision of commercial knives was common. The knife features a clipped Bowie style blade with a blade 145mm in length with a cast cross guard and bone grips. Blade is marked ' Cox & Son, Cutlers Ltd Sheffield, Eng. ' and is contained in a tooled, flat leather scabbard. In good, used condition, uncleaned with some light pitting and marking to blade with clear signs of sharpening. Sheath in supple condition.OVER 18 ONLYUK Mainland sales ONLY
