Description
The belted blue wool tunic bears the sleeve rank insignia of an Air Commodore of the Royal Air Force. On the upper left breast is padded Royal Air Force pilot wing with king's crown. Below the wing are the ribbons for the Distinguished Service Order; the Distinguished Flying Cross; the Air Force Cross; the 1939-1945 Star; the Air Crew Europe Star with rosette (representing a clasp for the medal, either 'Atlantic' or 'France and Germany'); the Defense Medal; and the 1939-1945 War Medal with a bronze oak leaf clasp to signify a mention in despatches, a King's Commendation for Brave Conduct, or a King's Commendation for Valuable Service in the Air. The interior pocket retains an unnamed and faded tailor label. The tunic shows a few small pulls and a hole in the lapel, and the ribbons exhibit wear, but the lining is intact and overall the tunic makes a very good appearance.
