WW1 French Ankle Boots 1916/17

An exceptionally rare pair of the sought after standard issue WW1 French ankle boots these dating from around the 1916/17 period.As with most WW1 French uniforms the pattern dates from before WW1 ( 1912 ) with improvements made to the design in 1916 following feedback from extensive wear & trench warfare. There are some very faint markings now illegible due to wear & the original soles show the majority of studs with nails still intact . Leather is in very good condition with some stiffness. Laces are the apparent original issues.Please note hole to sole where previously mannequin mounted.
