Description
The group is comprised of two fatigue uniform shirts of U.S. Army Brigadier General Robert Clyde Gildart, Jr., who was a 1937 graduate of West Point (his father was also a graduate, class of 1911, and his brother was a graduate, class of 1940). One of the shirts is the olive green 'Jacket, Man's. Cotton Sateen', while the other is the 'Shirt, Field, Wool'. Both shirts bear Gildart's name, Brigadier General rank stars, and the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, of which Gildart was the commander. He saw service in World War II and was decorated with the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, and the Army Distinguished Service Medal. Both shirts show age but overall they are in very good condition.
