Description

Original WWII 'Coats, Kapok,' dated 1942. Early sheepskin-lined versions were replaced early in the war by kapok for warmth and waterproofing, as sheepskin was needed by the RAF. Heavy, durable design for extreme cold with khaki cotton canvas outer, quilted interior, kapok filling, waterproof interlining, wooden toggles, two flapped pockets, large wool-collared neck, and rear vent. The coat is marked twice with 'Flame Proofed' and War Department stamps. It retains its original label: 'Coats, Kapok,' size 2, maker Belmont & Co Ltd, 1942, War Department broad arrow, with letter 'O' for 1942.Good condition with normal wear and storage marks. A rare, original WWII coat, they were also worn by the Long Range Desert Group and SAS.
