Description

Original WWII Belgian 'Brigade Piron' MkII Helmet โ€“ Named to Charles Pirard (Service Number 3265). This is a very fine and rare Belgian volunteer helmet, issued to a member of the famous Brigade Piron. This example is named to Charles Pirard, service number 3265, who served with the 2nd Motor Company, 2nd Battalion of the Belgian Brigade formed in the United Kingdom. He took part in the liberation campaign across France, Belgium and the Netherlands, serving throughout the unit's 1944โ€“1945 operations. The helmet retains its original Belgian tricolour flash, still present and in good condition. It features a period rough textured camouflage finish. Pirard's name and service number are clearly written on the chinstrap. The liner is manufactured by BMB and is dated 1939, making it an early and desirable example.A truly unique Belgian volunteer's helmet, issued to a man who joined Brigade Piron in the UK. Unfortunately, no further information is known about how Pirard came to Britain before enlisting, but the helmet remains an evocative and historically significant artifact of the Belgian liberation forces
