US Pre Civil War Militia Officers Eagle Head Sword, 1820-1840, Bone Grips

Original era manufacture. Fairly sound example of an early 19th Century Militia officers sword, 31.5 inch polished steel blade with blue panels on each side with gilt decoration. The blade is very nice, just a touch of minor surface corrosion and a very slight lean to the left when viewing down its length. Carved bone grips in good repair with no chips, two thin age cracks on the reverse grip plate . Gilded brass guard, backstrap and pommel now showing an even brass patina. Dark brass patina scabbard with a dent in each side about midway down its length.
