French M1822 Cavalry Sabre, Klingenthal 1824

Original era manufacture. A classic cavalry edged weapon, which was adopted by many countries including the United States, where it was known as the M1840 Wristbreaker. 36 inch polished steel blade with clear makers marks and dated on the spine. The blade is straight and clean showing minimal age and wear. The brass guard shows numerous proof marks and a serial or rack number of 2502. Original leather grip wrapping and single strand twisted brass wire binding. The heavy steel scabbard shows a dark steel patina with scattered areas of cleaned corrosion with light pitting.
