Description
Item DescriptionOriginal Item: Only One Available. This is a very worn example of an extremely rare and period original painted Desert Camouflaged M38 Gas Mask canister, as used by German troops during the various desert campaigns of WWII. The tan paint is retained enough to discern it as camouflaged but there is very heavy loss and cracking across what remains. There is heavy oxidation across the canister with some retained markings. The side of the canister is painted 225 in white on top of the camouflage. Under the lid along the edge, you can see the original paint that the camouflage was painted over. There is heavy denting in the bottom of the canister with one small hole. The interior lid retains the spare lens storage but there are none inside. The lid is inscribed:Ogefr.BƶntgenThe name is obviously period-painted and should make for an exciting research project. The carry case is a Long Model 1938 Wehrmacht type, which was introduced to house the stiffer M38 gas masks. It has the original metal inner sleeve, but not the Reinigungslappen (Cleaning Rag). The front closure is in functional condition but the canvas strap on the end is mostly torn away.A very nice camouflage-painted canister, ready for further research and display.Shipping RestrictionsThis product is available for international shipping.Shipping not available to: Australia, France, or GermanyPayment OptionsNot eligible for payment with Paypal or AmazonLegal InformationDue to legal restrictions this item cannot be shipped to Australia, France or Germany.
