Description

Item DescriptionOriginal Item: Only One Available. This is a excellent condition Heer MedicalOberstarztOfficer's M35 Waffenrock Dress Tunic. The base material of the uniform is made of a fine feldgrau colored 'whipcord' weave wool. The wool shows signs of only light use, with just a few small moth holes, and no major wear or tears. The front closure features magnetic buttons with pebbled aluminum tops, with reinforced buttonholes on the left side of the tunic. The buttons are all originally attached to the uniform, and all look to be maker marked on the back. There originally were eight buttons, but the second button from the top tore off when the thread wore through. There are an additional two 'hook and loop' clasps at the collar. The breast features a hand embroidered silver bullion thread eagle, sewn to a dark bottle green wool backer. The eagle ishows just a bit of wear and is very neatly hand stitched to the chest in a fashion typical of wartime German tailor work. The collar is wrapped in aflaschengrün(dark bottle-green) 'badge cloth' wool, and the base material of the two bullion officer's dress litzen on each side of the collar opening isMedizinblau(Medical Blue), which was theWaffenfarbe(corps color) during WWII for the HeerSanitätstruppe(Military medical service). The collar, front closure, and rear vent of the tunic bear piping of the same color. The two litzenspiegel on each side are woven from a fine silver flatware thread on blue backgrounds. The collar and its insignia are without any noticeable damage or mothing. The lower French style cuffs of the sleeves have the correct green wool base, and are adorned with the correct blue piping and litzen matching the collar. The 'sew-in' styleStabsoffizier schulterklappen(Field-grade Officer shoulder boards) of this tunic are constructed with two rows of fine silver flatware 'Russia Braid' double piping, which are plaited together to form a loop around the buttonhole. They are in very good condition, both have the correct medical blue bases that protrude around the edges. Each bear two gold rank 'pips', for the senior medical officer rank ofOberstarzt(Seniormost Surgeon), equivalent to a U.S. Army Colonel. Between the pips are gold metal letterAcyphers, which indicates they were part of the medicalAkademie(Academy). We can also see multiple thread loops on the left chest for attachment of a medal bar, which is not present. The interior is lined with a very nice olive colored cotton rayon blend, with a horizontal slash pocket on the inner left chest. The sleeves are lined with fine white rayon, as usually seen on officer tunics. There is an internal belt to help give it a better profile, which is not adjustable. There is no maker label at the rear of the tunic, however there is a clear maker label inside the slash pocket, which reads:-GEBR. MEYERMÜNSTER i. W.HerrStabsarzt Dr. ThomDat.24. Dezember.1936The label is printed with pen written particulars, as is correct. We have not been able to locate any information on this person, but there is definitely some great potential for future research. The rank listed is 'Stabsarzt' (Staff Surgeon), which means that over the course of his service Thom was promoted multiple times. As a high ranked and experienced surgeon, it was probably thought best that they work at the academy and not on the front.Overall condition of the Waffenrock is very good, showing light wear from service with some light mothing across the tunic. There is a repair on the rear left side, which has had stitching put in repeatedly across it to stabilize the material. The interior shows a bit more wear, which is expected. The buttons all match, and there do not look to have been any replaced, though as mentioned one is missing. There is wear around the collar, one of the first places to show wear, but it is still solid. There is light moth nipping at the cuffs and the piping, which is typical. This gorgeous Medical Seniormost Physician Officer's Waffenrock comes ready to out fit with some awards and display!Approximate Measurements:-Collar to shoulder: 11'Shoulder to sleeve: 26'Shoulder to shoulder: 16'Chest width: 20'Waist: 20'Hip: 23'Front length: 30'The M35 Waffenrockdress tunic was introduced for wear by all ranks on June 29TH 1935 as the walking out, parade and ceremonial dress with the piped, stone grey long pants. The design of the M35 dress tunic was based on the Imperial German army's service tunic but was a different color and generally of much higher quality. Originally all personnel were issued two M35 dress tunics but manufacture was discontinued in late 1939 or early 1940 and was to be reinstated at the successful conclusion of the war. Regulations of March 21ST 1940 stated that the M35 dress tunics that were no longer suitable for dress wear were to be modified and reissued to personnel of the replacement and reserve units for every day wear. Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms and as a result were allotted a clothing allowance through the army'sKleiderkasse, (Clothing Account), system. The Officers and certain senior NCO's could choose to purchase their uniforms from the armed forces clothing depots or to privately purchase garments of higher quality. Although enlisted personnel were issued their uniforms from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored uniforms although the price may have been restrictive.Shipping RestrictionsThis product is available for international shipping.Shipping not available to: Australia, France, or GermanyPayment OptionsNot eligible for payment with Paypal or AmazonLegal InformationDue to legal restrictions this item cannot be shipped to Australia, France or Germany.
