Item DescriptionOriginal Item. Only One Available This is a great Type AN-6542 Summer Flight Helmet, summer, in fair condition with an original set of AN-6530 goggles. Being part of the AN6540/AN6542/AN6543 series this helmet is similar to numerous variations which differed among each other only in details, like goggle straps, chin straps / cups and oxygen mask attachment devices.The AN-6530 goggles are in fair shape, with the rubber entirely stiff but still intact and attached. The helmet retains its original velvet chinrest which is also tan-colored and connects fine to both sides of the helmet via a snap and buckle. The helmet also retains its wire for radio use. Brown, who received the Navy Distinguished Flying Cross:'The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Ensign Joe Franklin Brown (NSN: 0-378757), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Pacific Area from 17 February 1945 to 9 July 1945. Ensign Brown completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred.
