This is the extensive dog tag & ephemera grouping belonging to Marine Corps Private George Abraham Shell, who enlisted on May 20th, 1918 at Parris Island, South Carolina. Shell remained stateside during the duration of the war, and later worked for the Department of Defense.The grouping includes:- Shell's two USMC Dog Tags, very rare to find on their own. Marked with his date of enlistment, 5.20.18.- Shell's USMC Good Conduct Medal numbered 42406, with the accompanying Headquarters US Marine Corps document dated January 15th, 1921, noting the same number of medal. It is very rare to find these properly attributed!- Shell's WWI Victory Medal.- Shell's official US Marine Corps discharge document signed by Colonel George C. Thrope, recipient of the Marine Corps Brevet Medal for Bravery, extremely rare.- Death of Veteran certificate presented to Family during Richard Nixon's presidency.- Army Service Forces Department 'Checker with the Transportation Division' certificate Merit Award, dated June 26th, 1946.- 4 ¾ x 6 ¾' Framed photo of Private Shell in uniform wearing a P1912 Campaign hat. Great condition.- 10 Marine Corps greatcoat buttons taken from Shell's greatcoat.- Marksman Badge awarded to Shell.- Shell's Social Security card, health insurance card, and Civil Service card.- Shell's small diary logbook with very few entries but some nice recipes in the back.- 10 ¾ x 12 ¾' framed Certificate of Achievement from Department of Defense on the occasion of his retirement on July 31st, 1964. Good condition.- Yardlong photo of marines stateside, extreme damage and tearing with pieces broken off.- Rolled 11 x 18 ¼' USMC War Service Certificate of Shell with his enlistment, discharge, and stations listed.
