French Franco-Prussian War M1866 Chassepot Bayonet, 1868 Date

Original era manufacture. A solid example with blade markings by the Imperial Arsenal at Mutzig and dated 1868 making it right in the time period for the Franco-Prussian War, 1870-1871. The blade is brightish with scattered spotting and graying. The cutting edge is lightly sharpened and the tip remains sharp. Steel patina to the guard, brass patina to the grip. The scabbard is lightly dented on both sides but nothing severe. Clean overall.
